Fence & Retaining Wall

The existing fence at the rear of this garden had collapsed due to a combination of age, weather, and damage from an overgrown running bamboo on the neighbouring property. The thick bamboo roots were cut back and high-density plastic rhizome barrier installed to contain the plant. Then a concrete footing for a brick retaining wall was laid:-

I built a small retaining wall to the height of the neighbouring patio:-

Good quality, larch-lap fence panels erected on top of the retaining wall:-

Finally, the fence posts were trimmed and capped to protect the end grain. This squirrel was quick to enjoy a new, sturdy, vantage point (sorry about the blurry photo, it was taken in a rush)! :-
